Eunos Roadstar

A Eunos Roadster is another name for the Mazda Miata, which is the other name of the Mazda MX-5.

To all those who I've talked to over the last couple of weeks about my obsessions and how I wasn't going to buy a mx-5, I'm sorry. I lied. I woke up this week and thought, why not? I have two people to thank for this turn around. One was Julie for convincing me not to buy one. She did this by some very clever reverse psychology and encouraging me to buy it. That worked for, ooooh, about 3 days. Then I went and actually looked at some mx-5's. Big mistake. Even then I wasn't convinced it was a good idea. And so Vanessa enters the story. I was giving her a lift to our parents on Sunday and she was telling me how she was thinking about getting an NA MX-5 (that means pop-up lights people) instead of the preferred NB (non pop-up lights, the style that has just been superceded) due to the fact that they (fiance Cameron) are changing cars because they want to, not because they have to. It's more complicated then that but that's the basic gist. What finally tipped me over the edge was the fact that if I did buy one I'd be paying very little more then I pay now and if I did decide to sell the car later it would definitely pay off the loan straight away thanks to the fact that it will hold it's value ridiculously well.

So I'm letting everyone know what stage of the update process I'm up to. Currently:
Car: Nissan NX-R 1994
Insurance: AAMI, 1141 rating 6.
Finance: None, paid off. It was with the National, 7,000 at 12.25%, 200/month, 5 years (paid off in 2.5)

The transporting future:
Car: Eunos Roadster 1990 LE (British racing green, tan leather interior)
Insurance: Just Car Insurance, 728, rating 1.
Finance: National Bank, 13,000 at 11.75%, 136.80/fortnight, 5 years.

Just looking at that almost makes it a no-brainer. Sure it's a loan and I could be debt free right now, but money is there to be spend and I really really really want one.

All that leaves now is finding the right car to get. There are several options. Things to look out for include the fact the timing belt has to be changed at 85,000 but that's about it. Plus the condition of the soft top may not be the best but what's the point of getting an MX-5 with a hard top??

Links: This is what I'm getting. Not that particular car but one very similar. That's for those fzools who don't know what one looks like.
