Twas a good weekend. Played soccer Saturday night and scored. With my head no less. For those who are interested, I have included a brief description of the goal. For those who aren't, please skip to the next paragraph. At some point during the second half I've won possession back in midfield (I was playing stopper but pushing up to provide support). I've passed it forward and Patty has had a shot which the keeper saved. It's bounced out to Gareth our other striker who's had a shot which eluded the keeper but hit the bar. The ball has bounced almost straight down and come out again. The defender was letting it bounce for some reason. As I had chased it in all I had to do was get my head to the ball and nod it in. Quick glance at the assistant referee (Maree Price *shudder*) and I'd scored my first for the season. What's even better is that we went on to win 2-0.
And then I got to play in the top team as well. Right midfield so that was a bit more running then I was used to. Had a good chance in that game as well but their defender ran me down. Which was odd. I normally don't get caught by people once I've started running and he really didn't look that quick. But he was. Top team won that game as well.
Then I played poker sunday night. It was tight all night but I ended up winning a couple of good hands near the end up and ended up with a huge lead going into heads up against Brad. Full credit to Brad he got back into it and was even a slight leader when I went all in on a hand that he wasn't confident enough on to stay in. Then the next hand he's gone all in and I've called. He had Jack Queen to my Jack Nine suited. Flop came down Ace, Four, Queen. So he's got a pair of Queens to my nothing. I'm going wah at this point as it looks like the tournament is over for me. I'm looking for a straight at this point so I tell the dealer to give me a 10. The turn card comes out an 8. That leaves me with one out which is a 10 to complete the straight. There are in theory 3 of them left in the pack. I'm not too proud to admit that I was swearing at the dealer hoping for a 10 to come out. The river card was a 10 of clubs.
It's hard to keep a lid on your celebrations when the other guy is obviously feeling hard done by. I think I failed to keep a lid on mine. Didn't rub it in though. That's for next tournament ;)
Of all the hands I played there was only one I regretted not playing. And that was when I had Ace six. Being the first person to play I decided to fold. There ended up being 3 sixes on the table by the end of that hand. Giving me four of a kind if I'd stayed in. Other then that was good poker. Great weekend.
