I just went and watched the Metro 4 team (which I sometimes have referred to as the reserve squad) play their grand final at Perry Park. They won 3-0. While I'm happy that they won I'm still bitter about the fact I wasn't allowed to play with them. It came down to who you played for in the last five games of the season as to who you qualified to play for in the final series. And it was decided that the top team needed someone to sit on the bench for them in case of injury. And the person was me. So after playing for the reserves for most of the year I ended up being promoted for the finals series.
Over the two legs of the semi-finals (which both were lost) I played about five minutes. And didn't get to play in the reserves grand final. So while they were kind to me and gave me a winners medal as well it didn't feel right. I felt like an imposter. But good on them for winning and doing it quite convincingly in the end. Makes me kind of sad that I'm not planning on playing next year. I'd like to play both AFL and soccer but I can't see how I can do both successfully. It's going to be interesting to see what i end up doing.

Now if you had a time machine with a reverse gear, you could play in both ... :-)
