Long time

It's been a while since my last post, and really nothing new to report. The Wii is going on strong but I've lost my mantle as best tennis player in the house. Brad has managed to surpass me. Mainly because I can't resist trying to volley shots and missing. It's a weakness :) But it's all good, I get him back in boxing. Winning by knockout is a good sign that I've got the wood on him. I'd love to play someone else just to see if it's just his style or whether it really is skill.

I also have my first Wii related injury. It isn't much, but I've got a sore shoulder from baseball. Was pitching and threw a bit too hard and it felt like I'd injured my shoulder. Had to slow my fastballs down for a little while before I got the confidence back :) And for all those who have played GT Pro, I agree, it is a horrible game.

Right now isn't the best time for the Wii. You've got Rayman and Wii sports as the two stand out games I feel. They both use the motion controllers in new ways to make games seem fun. Rayman does it by being cute and having lots of mini games in a time honoured Nintendo way while Wii Sports is sports! Everyone can pick up the controller and figure out what to do. It'll be interesting to see the state of play in the console wars in a couple of years once developers start to fully appreciate the power of the respective systems. The Wii may end up being just a party machine, but that to my mind is all that the PS2 is to a lot of people right now....and Sony have sold more of them then anyone else has of their consoles. I'm not making a prediction here, I'd just like to see where it all ends up.

Apart from games related activities, I'm looking forward to this week at work. After the hecticness of the last couple of weeks I really think this week should go nice and smoothly. There's quite a few little projects I should be able to finish this week without the huge rush of things that must be done hanging over my head. And it's also going to prove interesting as I found out Friday that the girl who works in the office next door that I've been talking to for months went to the same high school as me and graduated in the same year. Neither of us recognised the other, but I have found her in the year book. So that may prove interesting.

And while we haven't won the Ashes back yet, it appears to be just a matter of time now. Go you good thing!
