Well, that was a long and not very painful process. It was meant to be a short upgrade process, but due to registered post and my misunderstanding, it took longer. Anyway, this is what happened in each stage.
Stage 1: Install RAM. Clicked it in and everything worked. I did move the existing ram to another slot and after a bit of pushing it all just worked, so it wasn't incredibly easy....
Stage 2: Collect Video card from post office. This took about 3 weeks. It got posted to the address I wrote down, which was the wrong one. So I sorted out where it was but I then had the problem of sorting out what name it was under. It was Ben Freke, it was Muuurgh. But I got it today.
Stage 2 (the real one): Install soundcard that Mick gave me. Thanks! It all just worked.
Stage 3 (or why can't I use the Internet?): Installing the soundcard caused my wireless network card to stop working. As the whole point of getting all this stuff was to play the computer game, I decided not to worry about the Internet and just play games. So I have been.
Stage 4: Install Video Card. Done. Uninstall old one, clip out old one, clip in new one, install latest drivers. Simple :)
Stage 5: Wireless network card. Uninstall. Remove. Install drivers. Install card. Try to remember what I set as the damn password for the wireless security. Luckily i have a good memory and got it right second time.
And this is where I am at the moment. Computer is back up and running much quicker then before, I can connect to the Net from home so I'm happy :) Now to test out the new Video Card. I just wanted to leave an explanation about why no blogging. Which wasn't helped by the fact that blogger got blocked at work so couldn't post either. All in all I think it's a pretty good reason for not blogging :)
