General impressions

I know someone asked for something along these lines, I just can't
find where they asked the question...

Anyway, I was going to talk about my trip to Blackpool, but I've run
into some issues and don't have time this afternoon to sort them out.

1) On the road. Three things stick out to me about driving in England.
First, the large number of roundabouts. They are everywhere, and most
of them have traffic lights on them. Secondly is how well they tend to
work up here in Warrington. They have a system where-by before the
light goes green, the orange light comes on while the red is still on.
That allows drivers to prepare for the green and get away (what seems
to be) quicker. That and the timing on the lights on the roundabout is
pretty much spot on, you very rarely see cars blocking other cars
space to come on to the roundabout. Plus, English courtesy is alive
and well. Someone wants to turn right off the main road into a side
street in peak hour. And they wait. Coming from the other direction,
there is a gap that is almost big enough for them to use. So the car
that is approaching the turning car will slow down to make the gap
bigger and flash their lights to let the other driver know it's safe
to turn. Which is fantastic and not something I've seen in any other
country.

2) Drizzle. The inuit have a large number of words for snow. Why do
the English only have one word for drizzle? It seems a little odd to
me, as every time I've been rained on so far (4) it's been different
every time.

3) Food. Food is more expensive, but I've been eating healthier. And I
think that comes down completely to the fact that in every supermarket
you can get sandwiches already made. They're cheap(ish) and good
quality, so it makes eating vegies much easier if you have them on a
sandwich. Although I did buy a sausage roll (and there were 5
different types to choose from) that they gave to me cold...which is
how I think it was meant to be eaten. And no, it wasn't a 'Gazpacho'
sausage roll.

Anyway, hopefully tomorrow I'll figure out an easy way to get all the
Blackpool photos visible. I'm off to get rained on on my way home....

It was me asking for general comments about day to day things. So thanks for that. The round a bout courtesy sounds pretty nice.

People here can't even figure out how to obey the law of giving way to the right. Within about 100 metres of each other there are two round a bouts on the way to my parents place. The other week I got cut off on both of them by someone entering the round a bout from my left when I was already on the round a bout causing me to have to brake not to hit them. *sigh*

Glad to hear you're eating healthier because you are such a fat arse! :p
