I always wanted to go to Oktoberfest while I was in Australia, but never made it. First weekend in Warrington and I go to one. It was an interesting experience. I got a shirt and a glass out of it, and a much more recent disliking of warm beer. There were a lot of different beers to try, so I did my best to try them all. Well, not really my best as I wanted to be able to go to Blackpool the next day (more about that later) but I still gave it a good shout. There was some beer called 'Cherry Blossom' which we had first up, which was fantastic. Nothing else really lived up to the idea of a good beer, mainly because they were too warm. It was held in an old hall that was about 100 years old. Also, they had an irish band on, and I recognised 2 songs. I've forgotten what the second one was but the first was 'Bound for South Australia'. And when they went off they had one of the worst singers I've ever seen perform publicly. Plus it was badly balanced so he was far too loud.
Luckily I wasn't there for the music.
Still, it was fun. And I got home alright without too many hassles. I only took two photos (as my phone was having 'issues') but they should give you an idea of what it was like.
The hall full of people.
And a closer view of the kegs..
Need to get started on work, but as soon as I can I'll add my impressions of Blackppol. One thing I will say, it's an experience that must be seen to be believed....
