Successfully moving to England from Australia

1) Get a HSBC passport account. It'll take 2 weeks or so to organise, so make sure you do it early. This way you'll have a bank account in England to which you can transfer money. Hopefully cheaply.
2) Get a pin for your credit card BEFORE leaving Australia. English credit cards have chips in them. And pin numbers. And use a different swipey thingy then Australia for the most part. If you don't have a pin, don't expect to be able to use your credit card to get money out. It seems to be impossible. Instead, see part 1 of this post. You will not starve however, as Sainsbury's can swipe your card so you can buy lunch. And dinner. And breakfast. The person serving you won't know what they're doing however, so expect a bit of a wait. Also, don't be fooled into thinking you can get money out at the same time. You can't.

Needless to say, the Tim Tams did not survive the first full day in Warrington. I had shared them around before that so it's not like I ate two whole packs...just most of two packs :)

Anyway, short post as I've got a huge amount of things left to do with today, hopefully I will be able to write more tomorrow as I don't start till 2pm.

funny, i like your sarcastic sense of humour :p. I also like that credit cards in England require a pin #; I think that's smart. Notice how I used ; instead of - ?, it's a new habit I've developed and at least it's good.
