Bonjour!
Words can't describe how annoying an alarm is that goes off when it's on the other side of the room. Particularly when it's 430 in the morning and you want to get across to it to shut it up before it wakes everyone else in the house up. It's certainly a shock to the system!
So, once that was done it was time to get to the airport for my 7am flight, where they recommend (i.e insinuate you will miss your flight if you don't) arriving at the airport 2 hours before departure. It was a lot more active then Brisbane was when I left. I got there very early, before anything was open. Watching everyone arrive and the airport waking up isn't something I can recommend :)
As far as I can tell at this stage of the holiday, the only thing I've forgotten is batteries for my camera. Since it takes AA batteries (a conscious decision) it should be simple to pick some up. I'm a little annoyed as the spare ones I have are rechargeable, and I specifically charged them, but if that's the only thing I've forgotten that's not too bad given m track record.
The flight itself was forgettable. Very little legroom, as expected on a budget airline. The flight was also full, once again as expected. What I didn't expect was the snack breakfast they gave us, which was really quite tasty. An egg and bacon pastry, mainly egg but quite tasty. As seems to be a pre-requisite with every airline I travel with in Europe, I needed to catch a bus from the plane to the terminal. I haven't flown that much but so far everytime I have the airline in question doesn't have somewhere to off load passengers at a terminal. I imagine European airports must be quite crowded and not so worried about expanding as other countries are. Once my bag came out (always takes a while) it was then on to another bus for a four hour journey to the resort. That did include a stop for a toilet break at a service station of course.
So far scenery has included a little bit of Switzerland (we flew into Geneva) which included several tunnels as featured on Top Gear. Lots of quite spectacular scenery, as you would expect in the alps. One thing that is very noticeable is the lack of green grass. It hasn't rained/snowed here for a while, so everything is looking a bit worse for wear. Not a drought but it looks like it's waiting for rain. Still on the bus at the moment, so I'm typing this up for future upload. I've already finished one book I brought so I'd like to keep the other for emergencies. I'm yet to find out if the hotel has wi-fi, or whether I will need to use an Internet cafe to post stuff (if I even bother), but I've brought it so I can go through my photos. I'm sure my camera has a snow setting...I'm equally certain I've forgotten how to bring it up. I'm hoping that if I leave it on automatic it'll figure it out for itself. If not there won't be many photos :)
Not much has happened today, I've gotten boots and skis fitted. I do really like the french accent, that's about all I've confirmed :) There are 8 guys on this friendship skiing thing (no girls), which is a little odd but it gives me someone to talk to at meal times, and that's the hardest thing about travelling alone in my opinion. More to come tomorrow, including hopefully some photos of snow!!!!!

And don't come back with a French accent, no matter how good it sounds ;)
