of summer. Not only did I not need a jumper (although I did wear one)
but I also used for the first time ever the air conditioning in my
car.
So for the weekend Cara and I went to Bath, Stonehenge and the Cheese
Rolling. Bath impressive, although apparently we missed 'The
Crescent'. I've looked at it on wikipedia so I don't believe that for
a second. What we did see is what Bath is famous for, and that was The
Baths. It's quite amazing how much is left from that long ago. That
and sleep was the priority for Saturday. And pear cider. Lots and lots
of pear cider. It's fantastic!
Sunday was Stonehenge. Forget what Lonely Planet says, it's not
underwhelming. It's not over-whelming either. If you're in the area
it's definitely worth a look. On the way back it was Salisbury. Which
has a cathedral and 1 of 3 surviving copies of the Magna Carta. Which
I was thoroughly excited to see. Cara not so much.
Monday was different. Running after cheese down that hill does not
look like fun, nor is parking on a steep hill in a wet field full of
grass. Next year I plan on having a go down the hill, as well as up.
Up looks much easier, even if it takes a lot longer. I don't want any
of the cheese so coming first doesn't bother me. But saying I've done
it. That will be cool.
So that was that weekend. We also booked a trip to Poland the weekend
after, just to keep the holiday feeling going. More on that later.....
Photos are up, but only on facebook. As I didn't take any photos
they're not on flickr. Sorry.
