It's amazing how much it rains over here. Truly. The best bit is that it's so soft and you don't mind too much hanging out getting wet. Unless you're soaked, in which case it's horrible.
Anyway. The Summer Bank Holiday Weekend (I think it deserves capitals when you have a 4 day week) Cara and I went to the Lake District. Not surprisingly, it rained. What was more surprising was that I didn't mind too much as I was having too much.
First, still no camera. So no photo's until I get them off of Cara's. I will buy 1 at Christmas, when I have more time to do research.
Second, llama's rock! We'd been wanting to go llama trekking for a while, so it was the main reason for the trip. Nothing like walking a horse, donkey, dog, cat, lizard, or any animal you may have walked before. Such lovely animals, and easy to control. Not spooked by anything. So a quick whip around Lake Derwent, a picnic lunch and llama's. What more could you want? Ok, Sun, but it was great. Thoroughly enjoyed it, despite having to trek through several deep puddles.
Third, the National Trust charges a lot for some places...but it's probably worth it. We also went to Beatrix Potter's cottage, which wasn't much to see, but also wasn't expensive. Very knowledgeable guides, and highly recommended (as long as you're not worrying over every last pence).
I can certainly see why everybody enjoys going up there, despite everyone going up there. The crowds are generally friendly and all in all my favourite place to visit in the UK (sorry Edinburgh).
Oh, and don't stay at the YHA Windermere if you're a couple. You've been warned!
