Some Thoughts

I was reading Mick's post and it reminded me of the nature of blog's. Sure you get a bit of a snippet into people's lives, but its what they want you to see. Its somebody sitting back having a whinge about something or saying look at me and how good I am. There are very few blog's that you're going to find that have the deep dark secrets of the soul on them. I for one will never post such thoughts on a blog as I'm a private person. I share secrets in a one-on-one situation, not the one-to-many communication that is a blog. And that's why Blog's should never ever replace ordinary talking. You simply cannot get someone in an unguarded moment on a blog, because even if they do say something like that they can always delete it later. Once it's said in person, that's it. The cat is out of the bag.

That's not going to stop me reading blog's as it gives you some interesting insights into the way people's minds work and how they like to share information. Most people around my age tend to share whatever they think is cool at the moment. I'm personally a big fan of my dad's blog as it has thoughts that interest him, not what he's thinking. It's a completely different take on blog's and one I don't think enough people think about. Sure finding out what your friend just bought for their latest gadget (Cam, I'm looking in your direction) is interesting, but does it help you understand a person better?

It comes down to what you as a blogger want to use your blog for. I'm put some stuff on it just for the hell of it but I like to think people will read some of my entries and stop and think about what they're doing. Stop being mindless automata. Think about what you're doing, have a little more care for fellow man. Pick up your rubbish, sure there are cleaners who get paid to do the job, but do you want to be the kind of person who thinks others should clean your mess or will you take responsibility for your own actions? And stop voting for John Howard, he's a lying bastard. And yet you still believe everything he says when an election comes round. The opposition isn't that bad (they're not Hitler) so why are we rewarding him for his behaviour. Make no mistake that is how it is viewed. Stop thinking about how much it will affect your share portfolio and start thinking what is it I can do to help fellow man.

Go listen to Imagine by John Lennon. That sums up some of my resignation of the fact that humans are too selfish to do that. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm a selfish person too I just try to not let it affect others. To each their own though.

Restaurateur. Bet you didn't know that was a word. And no I did not mis-spell it.

The spell checker does not recognise the word blog. Ironic.

You have forced me to taunt you a second (and third, and.. oh my, what a mess this post is) time. Having no time in between my threat and writing this post (because the post was actually written a month earlier) is no excuse.

What's this "blog's" crap? I'll take on board that blog is a shortening of web log, but if you really wanted to throw apostrophes in, it'd be something like "'blog". Or "b'log", perhaps. Anyway, fight the rot, Freke. Stand up for proper English. Viva la revolution!

As for blogging: I'll put up a post on my [cough] oft updated [/cough] site, as it's something to help me fill space there, and this comment is already huge.
