Technology at its blorst

I thought this was so interesting I had to share it. Liam Magill (as some of you may know) is suing his ex-wife because she had 2 children from the marriage that were fathered by another man she was having an affair with. So he's suing her for damages. It's gone to the high court. That's not the interesting part. While I was reading about it (it's a slow day) I came across the suggestion that "as long as we have records on Births, Deaths and Marriages, why not do it properly? Let's have DNA testing of every new baby to enable accurate records. To ensure no one gets caught out by the new law unwittingly, wait 10 months before it becomes active". That's paraphrased quite badly by the way.

I bet that's something not many people would have thought of doing with DNA testing. I really don't know if I agree with the idea myself but it's definitely something to ponder. Also has some privacy implications but given the Australian publics willingness to roll over on privacy issues, I don't see that as being a problem.

Anyway, just wanted to share.
