Tired

As everybody (should) know, Australia beat Japan 3-1 last night. Cameron's blog sums it up, 3 goals in the last 8 minutes to win the game. I went out to Union Jacks to watch the game. This was after going out for Indian and having a fair bit of red wine. So of course I had a couple of pints as well. Just to keep the buzz going :)

Very tense game, lots of people chanting so it was a great atmosphere. There was a bit of a mis-cheer (if that's a word) when Bresciano curled his free kick into the side of the net as the coverage kept stopping at critical moments and when it stopped it looked like it had gone in. But that was nothing compared to when Cahill got his first and his second as the whole place erupted. There was mass hugging, waltzing matilda came out and there was good cheer all round. I've almost lost my voice from cheering, luckily the walk home helped that.

As it was 2am before I left the bar and caught a cab, there weren't many around. So I decided to split one with this Swiss guy who was ahead of me in the line as he lived at Coorparoo and I could just walk home from there. Plus we also took the guy who lived at Rooty Bay (?? not too sure where, see earlier remark about drinking) that the police asked us too. I think he tried to go to sleep in a car park.....not sure. Anyway, while Coorparoo seems close to Morningside (and has some great roads to drive on) it's not so much fun walking. It took me an hour to walk from where I got dropped off. And I was still staggering around when I got home at 3. And now I'm at work. Not too happy about that but we all have to make sacrifices.

It might be premature but I think it's safe to say that Australia has qualified for the second round. Unless Croatia beat Brazil, which will make things very interesting. I'm personally looking forward to the next 2 games, should be absolute crackers.

Guus Hiddink for president!! (Sorry Brownie)
