The football was good, I got put up half forward as they were short of players. It took me a while to figure out how to play but I did alright. It helped that the player they had against me wasn't very good. The main difference between Gaelic and AFL is tackling and soloing. You can't tackle in Gaelic, instead you have to try and slap the ball out of their hands. I'm not very good at that, but up forward I didn't need to be brilliant. I held play up enough that I was happy with it for my first game. The other thing is that unlike AFL players will run the ball much longer because they can't get tackled. So they kick the ball up to themselves. Drop it on the foot and kick it back to the hands at full speed is not something I've figured out how to do yet. So I did the AFL thing of get the ball and pass it on instead of travelling. That worked out fine and I got 4 points. 3 for a goal and 1 for an over. It was a lucky goal, the full forward had a free kick (like soccer) and it bounced off the cross bar, straight into my hands. So I kicked it into the goal for 3 points. After that all the other players started passing the ball to me. I don't think they thought I could play before that :)
I've uploaded photos to Flickr from the weekend, they're not much as it wasn't a sight-seeing tour. I've also put up a photo of me and my hat which we found in Manchester.
I would like to get back there again, and do some proper sight seeing. But that won't be any time soon as there are too many other things planned. Nottingham, Barcelona are it for plans, I need to sit down and work out where it is I'm going and when, but there won't be many weekends at home if I have my way. More news when I have it :)
p.s. I finally won a game in Dream Team! Yay!!
Apart from that, the car is still holding up nicely. I made the mistake of parking it under a tree that had blossomed, so when I came back it was covered in pink petals. Not a very butch look :)

We like the hat that WE(???) found in Manchester - don't think it matches the car though. Keep having fun!
